Every regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO has region-locked species that spawn wild only in specific geographic zones. This page lists every long-standing regional with their zone and how to obtain. Niantic does occasional global event-releases — those are noted per entry.

HOW TO GET REGIONALS WITHOUT TRAVELING
  • Trade with a friend in the region. Special Trade cost (800-100 dust depending on friendship). Lucky friends can trade for 200 dust flat — best route.
  • Wait for event releases. Most regionals get a temporary global release once a year during themed events (GO Fest, Tour seasons, anniversary).
  • Research breakthroughs. Some regionals appear as research breakthrough rewards in specific months. Check the live Research tracker.

FAQ · COMMON QUESTIONS
What is a regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO?

A regional Pokémon is a species that spawns wild only in specific geographic regions — Heracross in Latin America, Kangaskhan in Australia, Mr. Mime in Europe, etc. You generally can't catch them outside the region without trading or event releases.

How do I get regional Pokémon without traveling?

Three options: (1) Trade with a friend who lives in the region. (2) Wait for an event that temporarily releases regionals globally (~once per year for popular ones). (3) Some regionals appear in research breakthroughs or Special Research questlines, available globally.

Do regional Pokémon trade properly?

Yes — once a regional is in your friend's collection (caught locally or traded to them), they can trade it to you. The receiver doesn't need to be in the region. Trade costs more Stardust because it's a Special Trade.

Are all regional Pokémon shiny-released?

Most are, but not all. Niantic releases shiny variants for regional Pokémon during their themed events or via Community Days. Check the shiny tracker page for the current status of each regional.
